• Drip-feed

  Drip-feed is a delivery method that spreads purchased followers, likes or views across hours or days in small increments, mimicking organic growth patterns.

• Engagement pod

  An engagement pod is a group of users who agree to like and comment on each other’s posts to game engagement signals - a practice platforms actively detect and penalize.

• Engagement rate

  Engagement rate is the percentage of an audience that interacts with a post - (likes + comments + shares + saves) divided by followers (or reach), times 100.

• Explore page

  The Explore page is Instagram’s discovery feed of recommended posts and Reels tailored to each user - the main way Instagram accounts reach non-followers.

• Follower drop

  Follower drop is the decline in follower count after a delivery or platform cleanup sweep, caused by removed bot accounts, dormant profiles or unfollows.

• Follower quality

  Follower quality describes how real and active the accounts following a profile are - judged by profile completeness, posting history, and engagement behavior.

• For You page (FYP)

  The For You page is TikTok’s algorithmic home feed that recommends videos to each user based on predicted interest - the primary discovery surface on the platform.

• Growth chart

  A growth chart plots an account’s follower count over time - the graph platforms, sponsors and audit tools inspect to judge whether growth looks organic.

• Impressions

  Impressions are the total number of times content was displayed, counting repeat views by the same account - always equal to or higher than reach.

• Monetization threshold

  A monetization threshold is the minimum audience or activity level a platform requires before a creator can earn - e.g. YouTube’s 1,000 subscribers + 4,000 watch hours.

O

• Organic growth

  Organic growth is audience gain from unpaid discovery - recommendation feeds, hashtags, search and shares - as opposed to paid ads or purchased followers.

• Reach

  Reach is the number of unique accounts that saw a piece of content at least once, as distinct from impressions, which count every view including repeats.

• Refill

  A refill is the free replacement of followers or engagement that drops after delivery, provided under a time-limited refill guarantee - typically 30 days.

S

• Shadowban

  A shadowban is an unannounced reduction of an account’s reach - content stops appearing in hashtags, explore feeds or search, without any notification to the user.

• Social proof

  Social proof is the psychological effect where people judge an account’s credibility by its visible popularity - follower counts, likes and reviews - before evaluating its content.

• Watch time

  Watch time is the cumulative minutes viewers spend watching a channel’s videos - YouTube’s core ranking signal and, at 4,000 public hours/year, a monetization requirement.
